Daniele Santucci will take over the deputy professorship for Building Technology in April 2022.
‘I take on the Chair of Building Technology at the Faculty of Architecture at RWTH Aachen University with deep engagement and will continue to develop my research agenda at the interface between data, climate, the built environment, and its impact on people. As an architect and scientist, I will create teaching formats together with students and researchers, committed to an approach that considers the human as the dimension of design. In my role, I will develop future-relevant questions and approaches to tackle the climate emergency, the energy transition, and the consequent social transformations. To fulfil the aspired climate neutrality in the built environment, I will focus on the adaptation of building and urban structures, their materiality and design, as well as the responsible use of natural resources. In addition to design and spatial planning tasks, the challenges of climate change will be addressed through new, radical, and creative approaches that require transdisciplinary, cross-scale, and inclusive thinking.’
