In Progress
Project description:
An innovative new green space is being created in GOCCIA – Green Opportunities to Clean-up Contaminants through an Interspecies Alliance -, a former industrial area in the north-west of Milan. Over the past 30 years, the contaminated gas production site has been naturally renaturalized and is now an inaccessible urban forest. The sustainable design project builds on this spontaneous ecosystem and uses symbiotic microorganisms for natural soil remediation. Aiming to create a publicly accessible green space, the project will test new approaches to collaborative, inclusive and ecological restoration.
