Cambridge City Walks

Cambridge, USA
2024-2025
Completed

Project description:

The Cambridge Climatewalks project explored how microclimatic conditions affect thermal comfort in urban environments. High school students participated in a guided Climatewalk, collecting geo-referenced environmental data while recording their thermal sensations. The results showed how heat accumulates and dissipates along urban routes, highlighting the importance of shaded areas for recovery. The findings inform Cambridge’s heat resilience strategies by identifying intervention points for cooling infrastructure such as tree canopies, misting stations, and reflective surfaces. Expanding climate education and participatory data collection further strengthens community involvement in urban adaptation efforts.
